Day 8: Aphrodite

Jen and I were the first to rise and shine so we went out to do a short run off the beach walk.  We then came home and got everyone moving and headed to the bakery for breakfast.  We then decided to do a little road trip down the coast to head towards Paphos.  We first stopped at Petra Tou Romiou Beach which is known as Aphrodite's birthplace.  It was nice to visit but as Roy calls it the "beach of pain" and not the "beach of love."  There are rocks everywhere!  But here are some pics of Aphrodite's birthplace and some shots we took when we were on top of the mountain heading down towards it.

There is the Aphrodite beach just beyond the cliff.

So blue!

A memorial of some sort at the top of the mountain we stopped at, but not so sure for what because it was all in Greek!

Just in case you forget to drive on the left....

Our way down to Aphrodite's beach.

Aphrodite's rock

RJ's first time in the Mediterrean

If you look closely you can see the rocks are in heart shapes

Pretty pretty

We then continued our way down towards Paphos. We ended up at Laourou Beach which was beautiful! Nice white sand beach with calm waters and no rocks to have to step on when getting into the water.  We went to the restaurant on the beach for a little lunch and drinks and then lounged on the beach.
Yay we made it!

Grapes!!

Roy was sad I spilled his drink a little, but that was ok because it did not taste so good.

Beach time!

To finish off the night we went over Laura's house.  Her house and deck are so freaking awesome!   Her fiance did an amazing job building everything and putting it together.  She is right off the beach and on the main road right around the corner from us.  It was a great way to finish off the night.

  2. Looks like you've had an amazing and truly unforgettable holiday, am I right? :) I love the legend connected with this rock so much. Legend says the Greek goddess of love was born off Aphrodite's Beach. Waves breaking over the rock create pillars of foam that islanders say look just like the goddess herself. I want it to be true. You may read more about other legends and simply learn more about hidden sites of Cyprus on Сyprus Tourism Centre. I'm sure you'll enjoy reading it.
